The Photovoltaic system at the Gardiner School is up and running as of about 3 pm today, Earth Day - April 22, 2009. By 4 PM the first kilowatt-hour had been produced, and used, by the school. Over the 25 year guaranteed life of the panels we expect close to 70 megawatts of power.

The project was kicked off by a grant written by Aubree Durfey back in the fall of 2007. Much effort by many good people made this all happen. Kudos to Aubree, the Greening Gardiner Committee, the Gardiner School and Student Council (thanks for your help Danielle and Ben), the Industrial Technology Class (which is doing some VERY cool work), Northwestern Energy for the grant funding and Independent Power Systems for showing us the way and installing the system.

The Student Council also did a terrific job of putting on some solar demos for the grade school students and organizing a cleanup of the town.

The web component is not yet working but when it is, you will find it here.

A few photos from the assessment in February and the install today. More to come.
